Everybody likes to vacation a little different. For some it's partying and nightlife, for others it's adventurous exploration. For me it's slow strolling outdoor malls in the sun, fine dining and sunsets on the beach. If you like to vacation like me then you will want to check out my favorite vacation spot, Carlsbad, California! Nestled halfway between San Diego and Laguna Beach in Northern San Diego County you will find this quiet village. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty else to do there. For those looking for physical activities there are hiking and walking trails at Batiquitos Lagoon, Mount Calavera and Calavera Lake, there are watersports galore, paddle boarders can be seen around the clock. Carlsbad even has a pretty big annual marathon for the runners out there. If you are into nightlife there are certainly wilder places but the village has no shortage of great places to enjoy after the sun sets! For those looking for some family amusement Legoland has a park in Carlsbad and if you like either rides or Lego then it's a place that kids and adults can enjoy. But for me a day of strolling through the downtown shops before catching a sunset on the never crowded beach while listening to the waves crash, and then capping the evening off with a great dinner at a locally owned restaurant can't be beat!
